University Programming Board (UPB) strives to continue the legacy of excellence created within Midwestern State University. UPB was created to be the programming board of the university that designs and initiates campus-wide events for all students. It is responsible for bringing in featured entertainers, a cinema series, and many other special events. All UPB events are free. UPB and Student Activities program many of the most exciting events on campus including:
UPB is a student led organization that strives to meet the entertainment needs of the entire student body. UPB is located in the Student Activities Office, Room 194 in the Clark Student Center (CSC). UPB loves families and loves celebrating them. Each fall families come to campus to enjoy MSU Family Day. There are many events for students and parents to enjoy. Family Day offers the perfect chance for students to include family members in their college experience. MSU Homecoming is an exciting, spirit-filled event surrounded by many students, alumni, and friends returning to campus. The week prior to the big football game includes many festivities, such as an all-school picnic, float parade, banner contest, traditional torch light parade, bonfire, a great concert following the Alumni Fish Fry, and a tailgate party leading up to kickoff.
For the complete college experience, significant learning takes place outside the classroom, and UPB provides a window for this learning. While participating in UPB events, students learn about diversity, leadership, friendship, and the skills it takes to program events for more than 1,000 people. Upcoming events are listed on the MSU homepage (mwsu.edu). As a committee member, the student will work with the event chair to plan and implement events for the entire campus. Responsibilities will include: 2. Publicizing the event 3. Hosting the event 4. Collaborating with other organizations to provide quality programs 5. ...and most students’ favorite, getting a free t-shirt for service
