Welcome to the Beta Xi Chapter of the International English Honor Society!

The International English Honor Society recognizes...
outstanding achievements of English language and literature students in undergraduate, graduate, and professional studies. Sigma Tau Delta, one of the largest members of the Association of College Honor Societies, has over 600 active chapters and inducts approximately 7000 members annually.

English majors or minors with a 3.00 cumulative GPA and a 3.00 GPA in English courses, completed 2nd semester sophomore or higher as well as having already enrolled in their 4th semester of English or higher will receive an invitation to join. Students pay a one time fee for a lifetime membership.

Advantages of membership...
include scholarship and internship applications, attendance and submission of paper presentations at the annual regional and international conventions, and the opportunity to submit personal writings for possible publication in the Rectangle, an award-winning journal. However, the student will enjoy the greatest advantage in the camaraderie of other members of Sigma Tau Delta on the local, regional, national, and international levels who share the same interest in literature and English language.

As one of the most active chapters of Sigma Tau Delta, we have hosted the Southwest Regional Conference, where students from all over Texas and the surrounding states presented papers and shared ideas with their fellow members. We have regular meetings monthly, and often work alongside the English Club (whose members also make up a great number of students in our chapter). This semester we began moving into aspects of community service such as Habitat for Humanity and the Wichita Falls Food Bank. We will also continue to encourage literary fellowship and attendance of the National and Regional Conferences.
