MSU is a member of USA Rugby, the Western Rugby Football Union and competes as a collegiate club in the Texas Rugby Union. Rugby was first brought to MSU in 1988 and moved away in 1995, but was reintroduced in 2002.

• 2004 -- MSU played Newport RFC from Tipperary, Ireland
