Uniforms and trips to camp are paid for by the university.  Out of town travel expenses and per diem are paid for by the university.  Shoes are provided once per year.  Camp clothes and warm-ups are the cheerleaders responsibility and are not purchased by the University.

Cheerleaders are required to cheer at all football games as well as home soccer games and volleyball games not in conflict with football.  Cheerleaders also cheer at all home basketball games and any additional playoff games and participate in clinics and service/philanthropic events to benefit MSU and the local community.  Cheerleaders are afforded the opportunity to attend NCA Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida each year pending positive performance during the year.

 Frequently Asked Questions:

  • You do not need to bring a partner to stunt with at tryouts.  We will have plenty.
  • There is no fee to tryout!
  • Tryouts are closed, meaning the only people allowed to watch you tryout will be the judges and sponsors.
  • You will find out the same day after everyone is done trying out if you made the squad.  In addition, the scholarship list for the semester will be available after the tryout.
  • If you cannot make the tryout, send in a video of your jumps/standing tumbling, running tumbling, stunting/flying, and one cheer. Email cheerleaders@mwsu.edu for an address to send it to. We will then schedule a time for you to come to a practice depending on your video.
  • You will have to fill out a release of liability for the tryout.  We will have AACCA certified staff on hand to assure necessary safety precautions are taken.  Cheerleaders who make the team are required to provide proof of insurance and complete a brief medical history at the first official team practice.
  • Please fill out the PROSPECTIVE CHEERLEADER INFORMATION FORM above so we know you are coming.
  • Parents are welcome to attend the meeting and the clinic but are not able to watch the actual tryout.
